Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Messina Province) is 46 km from Messina, alt. 60 m, north of the Peloritani, in the hinterland of the Gulf of Patti, area 58.9 sq km, pop. 40,988, post-code 98051, tel. 090. Economy: agriculture (cereals, citrus fruit, olives, grapes, vegatables), mixed handicraft, industries (citrus fruit processing, glassware, textiles).

The town consists of two formerly separate centers, Barcellona and Pozzo di Gotto. Pozzo di Gotto already existed in the 16th century, while Barcellona flourished in the 17th century They became a single comune in 1835.
