Africo (Reggio Calabria Province) is a town of 3,267 inhabitants. The old village of Africo Vecchio is now in a complete state of neglect. The origin of the name seems mysterious, some theories have been developed, the more likely is that the African name comes from the greek Apricus, sunny weather.
