Alessandria della Rocca (Agrigento Province) is 56 km. from Agrigento, alt. 533 m., on the Monti Sicani, in the valley of the river Magazzolo, area 61.9 sq. km., pop. over 4800, post-code 92010, tel. 0922. Agricultural economy: citrus, fruit, cereals.

Founded in 1570 by Blasco Barresi, Lord of the Castle of Pietra D'Amico. It passed to the Napoli family of Resuttano in the 17th century. It was called Alessandria della Pietra or di Sicilia until 1862, when it took its present name from the nearby 17th century sanctuary of Santa Maria della Rocca, which stands at the point where, according to tradition, a statue of the Virgin Mary was found.

Churches (Agrigento Diocese) include the following:
Maria SS. della Rocca (Chiesa Madre, 17th century)
B.M.V. del Monte Carmelo
S. Maria del Pilerio
Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Rocca (1 km. south of town)
