Alimena (Palermo Province) is 100 km. from Palermo, alt. 740 m., in the southwestern Madonie, between the Rivers Salso and Imera Meridionale, area 59.4 sq. km., pop. over 2900, post-code 90020, tel. 0921. The economy is agricultural.

The original nucleus of the town was built in 1603 by Don Pietro Alimena, a native of Cosenza. The town grew under Don Antonio Alimena from 1628.
