Burgio (Agrigento Province) 70 km. from Agrigento, alt. 317 m., on a hill on the river Ventura, area 42.2 sq. km., pop. over 3500, post-code 92010, tel. 0925. Agricultural economy: citrus fruit, wheat, barley, vegetables, almonds, olive-oil.
The village developed around the ancient castle (now on via Calvario), which was possibly built by the Arabs and then rebuilt by the Normans, the Gioenis and the Colonnas.
