Canicattini Bagni (Siracusa Province) is 24 km from Siracusa, alt. 362 m, in the southeast sector of the Hyblaean Mountains, on the western slopes of Cugno Passo del Ladro, area 15.1 sq km, pop. 7,673, post-code 96010, tel. 0931. Economy: agriculture, sand quarries.
Founded by Marqui Mario Deniele in 1678, it expanded especially after the earthquake in 1693, when it absorbed the inhabitants of the destroyed town of Noto. In its territory are prehistoric and Christian necropolises, at Sant'Alfano and Martino, and 6th-7th century Byzantine necropolises at Olivella.
