Castell'Umberto (Messina Province) is 125 km from Messina, alt. 660 m, in the northern Nebrodi, on the northwestern ridge of Monte
Rocca di Poggio, between the Rivers Naso and Fitalia, area 11.4 sq km, pop.
3,808, post-code 98070, tel. 0941. Economy: agriculture (citrus fruit, olives,
hazelnuts), artistic marble handiwork.
The town was built in 1865 for the inhabitants of a nearby agricultural village
which had been destroyed by landslides.
The middle of the town is Piazza IV November, with the Chiesa Madre.
