Castronovo di Sicilia (Palermo Province) is72 km from Palermo, alt. 660 m, at the foot of the Kassar plain, on the left of the River Platani, area 199.91 sq km, pop. 3,594, post-code 90030, tel. 091. Economy: agriculture, industry (refrigerators).

Its territory has been inhabited since remote times as testified by prehistoric finds and by ancient city of Crasto, on the Kassar plain (late 6th or early 5th century BC). When the Romans destroyed it, the inhabitants settled on the steep rock of San Vitale; the site of the present town was not occupied until Arab times. It was later developed as a fief of powerful overloads (the Chiaromontes, Moncadas and Ventimiglias).

Churches (Palermo Diocese) include the following:
SS. Trinita (Chiesa Madre)
