Catenanuova (Enna Province) is 48 km from Enna, alt. 170 m, in the mid-valley of the River Dittaino, area 11.2 sq km, pop. 5,168, post-code 94010, tel. 90935. Agricultural economy: cereals, vegetables.

Many towns are medieval in origin, but Catenanuova is not so old. It was founded in 1754 by Andrea Riggio at the meeting place of a number of traditional routes of communication. The great mass of Etna dominates the wide spread of the surrounding countryside.

Of interest is the Palazzo del Signore.

Churches (Nicosia Diocese) include the following:

S. Guiseppe (Chiesa Madre)

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
