Ciminna (Palermo Province) is 45 km. from Palermo, alt. 530 m., south of Pizzo Sant'Anna, area 56.3 sq. km., pop. over 4,400, post-code 90023, tel. 091. Economy: agriculture, traditional handicraft.
Traces of prehistoric, Punic and Roman settlements have been found in its territory. Under the Arabs it may have been the site of the Hamlet of Hasu, mentioned by the geographer Edrisi. It later developed around the Norman castle. It later belonged to Matteo Sclafani, the Ventimiglias and the Grifeos.
