Ficarra (Messina Province) is 105 km from Messina, alt. 450m, in the northern Nebrodi, on the ridge between between the rivers Naso and Brolo, area 18.6 sq km, pop. 1,986, post-code 98062, tel. 0941. Agricultural economy.
Medieval in origin, and possibly Islamic, the village's existence is the first recorded with certainty in 1198. The Lancias, who with others were the lords of the fief, obtained the title of Marquis in 1656.
