Forza D'Agro (Messina Province) is 43 km from Messina, alt. 420 m, in the southeastern extremity of the Peloritani, not far from the Ionian coast, area 10.6 sq km, pop. 961, post-code 98030, tel. 0942. Agricultural economy.

This is indubitably a typical village of the Province of Messina, still conserving it's medieval street layout. The views on all sides are splendid.

Count Roger, in 1117, donated the village to the Basilian monks who lived in the great Convent of Saints Pietro and Paolo d'Agro.

Of interest: Norman castle.

Churches (Messina Diocese) include the following:
S. Maria Annunziata e Assunta (Chiesa Madre)
Chiesa di San Francesco (historic)
Chiesa di Sant'Agostino (historic)
S. Alfio (Scifi' - suburb of Forza D'Agro')

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
