Isnello (Palermo Province) is 85 km. from Palermo, alt. 530 m., in the Madonie, south of Monte Grotta Grande, near the source of the torrent of the same name, area 50.2 sq. km., pop. over 2,000, post-code 90010, tel. 0921. Economy: agriculture, charcaol.
Its territory has been inhabited since prehistoric times (shown by finds in the Chiusilla, Fico and Roccazzo caves). The medieval town developed after the 13th century around the castle. A fief of the Abbates, the Filangeris, the Ventimiglias and, for centuries, of the Santacolomba family.
