Itala (Messina Province) is 23 km from Messina, alt. 210 m, in the southeastern Peloritani, on the southeastern extremity of Monte Scuderi, in the plain of Itala, area 10.7 sq km, pop. 1,801, post-code 98025, tel. 090. Agricultural economy.
The village, which existed even before the Norman epoch, was donated by Count Roger to the Monastery of San Pietro, which he himself had founded.
Itala was a ward of Scaletta Zanclea from 1928 to 1947.
