Maletto (Catania Province) is 60 km from Catania, alt. 960 m, on the northwest slopes of Etna, west of Pizzo Filicia, area 40.9 sq km, pop. over 4,400, post-code 95035, tel. 095. Economy:agriculture and modern stock farms.

Maletto is the highest town on Etna and in the province of Catania, and one of the highest in all Sicily, surrounded by luxuriant oak and beech woods. It was founded in 1263 by the Count of Mineo, Manfretti Maletto; repopulated in 1440, it bacame a principality of the Spatafora family: it was again repopulated in the 17th century.

Northwest of the town is the Maniace Castle. This town is also famous for producing generations of pipers (bagpipe players).

SS. Cuore di Gesu e Maria (Chiesa Madre)
Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate (historic)
Chiesa di San Michele (historic)
San Antonio di Padova (historic)

On the Second Sunday of September is the Festa of Sant'Antonio di Padova. Strawberry Festival is held here in June.
