Montagnareale (Messina Province) is 81 km from Messina, alt. 328 m, in the northern Nebrodi, in the group of the Monte dei Saraceni, on the left bank of the River Sant'Angelo di Brolo, area 16.2 sq km, pop. 1,878, post-code 98060, tel. 091. Economy: agriculture, forestry, small foodstuff and woodwork industries.

Originally belonged to the town of Patti.

It was later a fief of Ascanio Ansalone, the Crovaja family and the Vianisi family.
