Naso (Messina Province) is 116 km from Messina, alt. 490 m, in the northern Nebrodi, between the mouth of the River Naso and the River Zapulla, area 36.6 sq km, pop. 4,416, post-code 98074, tel. 0941. Economy: agriculture and small processing industries.
Of medieval origin, it belonged to various lords, including the Alagonas (1220-1401), the Cardonas, and the Ventimiglias, who were the Counts of Nazo after 1575.
The little town of Naso, besides its artistic treasures, has the added advantage for tourists of its position by the sea, the Tyrrhenian, near Capo d'Orlando (12 km), as well as its moderate alititude on the gentle hills of the Nebrodi, so that pleasant excursions can be enjoyed to the woods and other nearby towns.
