Nizza di Sicilia (Messina Province) is 24 km from Messina, alt. 9 m, on the Ionian coast north of the mouth of the Dinisi torrent, area 13.2 sq km, pop. 3,691, post-code 98026, tel. 0942. Economy: agriculture, fishing.
Of medieval origin, it developed above all in the 17th century It belonged to the Rocca family, to the Princes of Alcantres and then to the city of Messina. From 1851 to 1863 it was called San Ferdinando; from 1929 to 1948 it was part of the territory of the commune of Roccalumera.
The ruins of the medieval castle of the Princes Rocca can be seen in the oldest part of the town.
