Oliveri (Messina Province) is 64 km from Messina, alt. 2 m, on the coast of the Gulf of Patti, south of Capo Tindari, area 10.3 sq km, pop. 2,132, post-code 98060, tel. 0941.
The village spread around a castle of possibly Arabic origin; in feudal times it belonged, among others, to the Spadaforas, the Gioenis, the Princes of Carini, and to the Paratore family.
Now it lives entirely on fishing and summer tourism.
It is very near Tindari.
Churches (Patti Diocese) include the following:
S. Giuseppe (Chiesa Madre)

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
