Piraino (Messina Province) is 96 km from Messina, alt. 415 m, at the northern extremity of the Nebrodi, between the promontories of Capo Colava and and Capo d'Orlando, on the right bank of the River Sant'Angelo di Brolo, area 17.2 sq km, pop. 3, 788, post-code 98060, tel. 0941. Agricultural economy.

A village of possibly Arab origin, and subsequently a Lanza fief.
