Roccalumera (Messina Province) is 30 km form Messina, alt. 7m, on the Ionian coast, to the left of the mouth of the Pagliara torrent, area 8.8 sq km, pop. 4,123, post-code 98027, tel. 0942. Agricultural economy.

The town developed at the beginning of the 17th century for the exploitation of the alum quarries from which it derives its name, together with that of the Rocca family, who were its first feudal overlords. It later belonged to the Ardionos and the Moncadas.
