San Filippo del Mela (ME)
San Filippo del Mela (Messina Province) is 41 km from Messina, alt. 123 m, in the northern Peloritani, in the hinterland of the Gulf of Milazzo, on the left of the Corriolo torrent, area 9.8 sq km, pop. 6,909, post-code 98044, tel. 090. Agricultural economy.
The town grew up around a Basilian monastery founded by Roger the Norman at the end of the 11th century.
