Santa Domenica Vittoria (Messina Province) is 97 km from Messina, alt. 1027 m, in the foothills of the eastern Peloritani, in the mid-valley of the River Alcantara, area 20 sq km, pop. 1,240, post-code 98030, tel. 095. Agricultural economy.

A hamlet in the Roccella fief, it belonged to the Spadaforas until the 13th century, and later to the Villafrancas.

It takes its name from the patron saint of the village and from Vittoria Villafranca.

The short distance to the River Alcantara on the one side and to the Monti Nebrodi on the other makes it an enviable place both for the purity of its air and the beauty of its scenery.

Churches (Messina Diocese) include the following:

S. Antonio Abate (Chiesa Madre)

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
