Sciara (Palermo Province) is 52 km. from Palermo, 210 m., in the lower valley of the River Torto, not far from its estuary, area 31.2 sq. km., pop. over 2,000, post-code 90020, tel. 091. Agricultural economy (cereals, artichokes).
Nearby are traces of Neolithic age, Punic, Greek and Roman civilization. The modern village was founded with "licentia populandi" by Prince Filippo Notarbartolo in 1671.
Of interest are the ruins of the castle that stand over the town.
