Santa Maria di Licodia (Catania Province) is 28 km from Catania, alt. 442 m, on the southwestern slopes of Etna, area 26.2 sq km. Its population is just over 7,100, post-code 95038, tel. 095. Economy: agriculture.
This town grew around the Benedictine Abbey build in 1160 by Simon, Count of Policastro and nephew of King Roger.
