Santa Venerina (Catania Province) is 24 km from Catania, alt. 337 m, on the eastern slopes of Etna, in the Valle del Bove, on the bank of the River Fago, area 18.8 sq km. Its population is just over 7,200, post-code 95010, tel. 095. Economy: agriculture, alcoholic spirits and liqueurs.

This town grew from a town near the well of St. Venera from which it derived its name.

Of interest is a 6th century paleochristian temple in the suburb of Dagala del Re.

On July 26 is the Festa of Santa Venera.

Churches (Acireale Diocese and Catania Diocese) include the following:
Santa Venera (Chiesa Madre)
Sacro Cuore di Gesu
S. Maria del Carmelo (Bongiardo - suburb of Santa Venerina)
Maria SS. del Rosario (Cosentini - suburb of Santa Venerina)
Maria SS. Immacolata (Dagala del Re - suburb of Santa Venerina)
Santa Maria del Lume (Linera - suburb of Santa Venerina)

With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
