Terrasini (Palermo Province) is 34 km. from Palermo, alt. 33 m., on the coast of the Gulf of Castellammare, on the western coast of the Punta Raisi Promontory, area 19.4 sq. km., pop. over 10,800, post-code 90049, tel. 091. Economy: agriculture, mining, fishing, tourism.
In the middle ages it was a fief of the Monastery of San Martino di Monreale and then of the La Grua Talamanca families.
Of interest is the civic museum.
The annual "Festa degli schietti" (bachelors' festival) is an exhibition of strength with tree-lifting trials on Easter Saturday and Sunday, with music, singing, and processions of Sicilian carts.
