Valverde (Catania Province) is a town (formerly a suburb of Aci Sant'Antonio) is 11 km from Catania, alt. 305 m, on the southeastern slopes of Mt. Etna, not far from the Ionian coast, area 5.5 sq km, a population of over 6,200, post-code 95028, tel. 095. Economy: agriculture.
This town developed around the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Valverde (12th century) after two miracles occurred a the site.
Of interest is the Palazzo Riggio (1775).
